It is rare in any age that a single book can so comprehensively document and analyze a historical movement as to be capable of defining it. In the aftermath of World War II, which shattered western civilization to a degree unparalleled in history, it was William Shirer’s monumental “The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich” which cohesively linked the chain of events that led to the nightmare of Hitler’s Germany. Yet Shirer’s work came as a heartrending post-mortem of the European War, explaining to a yet unbelieving world how such an atrocity could have unfolded in its midst, among ostensibly “civilized” people.

During the Cold War, Alexandr Solzhenitsyn systematically unmasked the horrors of Soviet Russia, its oppression of the masses it claimed to be liberating, and its efforts at maintaining the facade of statist beneficence on the world stage. Through the publication of several works, including “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich” and “The Gulag Archipelago,” Solzhenitsyn eventually was able to put out a distress call from those subjugated under the iron fist of the Soviet Union, thereby inflicting grave damage to its public relations ruse, from which it never recovered.

Recently, author Mark Levin substantively defined the stark crossroads at which America finds itself, with his powerful book “Liberty and Tyranny.” In this timely publication he contrasts the philosophies of freedom and individualism against the seductive allure of the “nanny state,” with its dangerous potential for descent into a dehumanizing abyss, lurking just beneath the veneer of bogus promises of a social paradise. Ultimately, Levin’s work offers both a clarion warning of the impending danger, and a path to escape if the people are sufficiently vigilant and resolved in their effort to maintain the freedoms with which they were endowed as Americans.

Now, to these greats must be added David Limbaugh’s “Crimes Against Liberty,” which was just released this week. Applying the principles of freedom and conservatism that he knows so well, David Limbaugh goes directly to the heart of the modern leftist movement as it makes its ultimate assault on America. More significantly, he firmly attaches a face to America’s newly ascendant “Evil Empire,” since its discussion rightly centers on the tactics and political agenda of Barack Obama.

In keeping with the standards of his previous best sellers, Mr. Limbaugh exhibits the thoroughness of a practiced attorney making an airtight case though the presentation of an abundance of information, accompanied by the prescient analysis that readers of his bi-weekly syndicated columns have come to expect and appreciate. From the very first page of its introduction, which stands in and of itself as an outstanding treatise on the precarious place where America currently finds itself, to the structure of the remainder of the work in which Mr. Limbaugh properly characterizes the criminal degradation of this nation by the Obama regime on several fronts, his writing is unparalleled in its comprehensiveness and depth.

Consider the progression of the three main segments of the book, “Offenses Against Americans,” “Offenses Against American Institutions,” and “Offenses Against America’s General Welfare and National Security.” Starting with the dubious manner in which Obama seized power, Mr. Limbaugh renders an indictment of the flamboyant but fraudulent tactics used to gloss over Obama’s glaring deficiencies, while touting his supposed virtues in almost satirically exaggerated terms. He then proceeds to explain how, from that position of ill-gotten power, Obama and his minions have embarked on a mission to remake America in their own sordid, leftist image. Finally, he offers a crushing conclusion of the grave damage America will predictably suffer if the Obama vision is not vigorously opposed.

Addressing a subject of this enormity is no trifling undertaking, if one intends to do it with credibility and substance. Yet on both counts David Limbaugh indisputably proves he is up to the task. From the opening sentence, in which he asserts that Obama’s tenure in the White House is “already the most destructive in history,” Mr. Limbaugh makes bold assertions as to the despicable nature of the Obama Administration, that even many of his conservative contemporaries lack the fortitude to publicly affirm.

On the heels of such contentions, he presents a wealth of concrete facts to prove his point. And in this department, he proves once again that his abilities of research and analysis are second to none. The prolific quotations and extensive footnoting in “Crimes Against Liberty” make it an invaluable collection of information quantifying the suspicions and distrust with which America regards the Obama White House.

But to a far greater degree, Mr. Limbaugh uses the evidence he has amassed to undergird his irrefutable conclusions, offered in thorough incisive commentary. For example, in his exposition of “Obama the Imperious,” he explains that “Obama’s furious attacks on Wall Street were a natural outgrowth of his anti-corporate ideology, but they were also a cynical ploy to whip up public support for his policies by stoking outrage at ‘fat-cat bankers’ and other evil capitalists who seemed to come straight out of a comic book.”

In a single sentence, he lays bare the myopic leftism of Barack Obama, his willingness to manipulate the emotionalism of his mindless supporters, and finally, the absurd and even juvenile basis on which the Obama regime seeks to demean and undermine any who dare to stand in opposition to its schemes. And each page of “Crimes Against Liberty” contains an abundance of just such hard hitting commentary, accompanied by all the necessary supporting evidence.

Sinister forces are hard at work, seeking to tear the America of freedom, prosperity and greatness away from “We the People.” And if their effort is successful, its horrific effects might never be undone. It is thus imperative that those who intend to preserve and protect their nation and its Constitution from these attacks be armed with a thorough understanding of the assault they face, and how to best counter it. In this regard, Americans can do no better than to gird themselves with the truth and insights of David Limbaugh’s “Crimes Against Liberty.”

Congressman Joe Barton (R.-TX) is one of the few people from either party in Washington who should have any credibility left with the American public. On June 17, Barton infuriated liberals on Capitol Hill, and throughout the national media, by asserting that Barack Obama’s demand for twenty billion dollars from BP, ostensibly as reparation for its massive oil spill, amounted to a “shakedown” of the company.

Immediately on the heels of feigned liberal hysterics and outrage over Barton’s remarks, prominent members of his own party, including House Minority Leader John Boehner (R.-OH) and Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R.-VA) renounced Barton, insisting that he apologize or face punitive action, including removal from his position as ranking member of the House Energy Committee. The only problem amid all of the overblown sanctimony from across the political spectrum is that in retrospect, Barton was proven to be absolutely right.

His real sin was to highlight the abject hypocrisy, ineptitude, and completely self-serving mindset of the current administration, as well as its flagrant disregard for the plight of the people who make up real America. Barack Obama and his minions have an agenda. If properly managed and exploited, an oil spill would greatly buttress their purpose. And the untold hardship of hundreds of thousands of people living along the Gulf Coast, harmed not by any massive oil slick, but by the ham-fisted indifference of a government regulating their lives and fortunes out of existence, was only so much “collateral damage” that would barely make a ripple on the liberal nightly news.

In the past week, much coverage has been given to the lavish manner in which Michelle Obama has indulged herself and her cadre of friends while on “vacation” in Spain. Yet this sorry episode is merely another indicator of the callous disdain of the Obamas and their kind towards real America. Whether raiding the public coffers of “stimulus” funds to finance their favorite activist “charities,” traipsing off to a luxury resort to play golf or engage in some other diversion (Michelle’s copious trip was certainly not the first), or throwing lavish White House bashes, the Obamas clearly see their situation as an opportunity to live it up at taxpayer expense.

Meanwhile, average workers (those who still are working) suffer under the escalating burden placed on them by the mounting directives and regulatory excesses of a meddlesome and bloated government. More tragic still is the hardship of those whose jobs have been lost, possibly forever, as a result of the abominable economic situation, itself a byproduct of unfettered profligate government spending and interference in the private sector.

Of course the proper response, were the federal government actually interested in improving things, would be to get out of the way and unleash the strength and resourcefulness of the American people. From the reclamation of the Gulf Coast, to the refurbishment of the economy, the fervent and impassioned participation of “Main Street” would provide the necessary manpower and expertise to rectify things.

Just as Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal exhibited far more concern and understanding of the oil spill crisis, and a vastly more effective approach to dealing with it, so could “We the People” address healthcare and jobs with a far greater effectiveness, and without the increased intrusions of the federal government or its exorbitant costs. Unfortunately, to Obama and his cohorts, that is exactly the problem. Given his statist aspirations along with his co-conspirators in the Democrat controlled congress; such a course would be absolutely unacceptable.

The economic downturn of the past few years is only a negative to those who believe they should rightfully be in control of the money they earn through their own sweat and toil. For the socialists who now populate the Democrat Party in Washington the current recession was, as Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel so heartlessly asserted “the opportunity for us to do things that we could not do before.”

Ditto for the oil spill. Not only did it initially portend an environmental panic that could be exploited in the effort to pass “cap and trade” (a ruse to seize more taxes in the name of saving the planet), but it provided justification for Obama to illegally confiscate a stimulus sized chunk of cash from another source, this time an evil, wealthy oil company.

Of course we were all reassured that the money would be properly and objectively dispersed by an “independent” third party, Kenneth Feinberg, who also just happens to be Barack Obama’s “Pay Czar.” Empanelling Jack Ruby on the Warren Commission would have constituted a less outrageous conflict of interest. Possessing about as much independence and objectivity as any of the other Obama “czars,” Feinberg can be counted upon to line the pockets of preferred White House causes, while those rubes down south are assuredly going to be left to fend for themselves.

Money equals power, and therefore, control of money equals control of the people. It is for this reason and not any faux concern over the possibility of damage done by wayward oil slicks, that the Obama White House was finally motivated to take action on the Gulf disaster. And by the very nature of that action, looking for all possible means of enriching its coffers while thwarting any real effort by Governor Jindal to improve the lot of his state’s citizens, the current Administration revealed a treacherous devotion to its advancement at the ultimate expense of the American people.

The monies extorted from BP are merely a reflection of the monies being extorted from the hard working and productive people across America. Contrary to any flowery rhetoric appearing on the teleprompters, the real purpose of this theft was never to build a better America, but to further empower its increasingly dictatorial and self-serving government. Until the people wake up to this government’s craven ugliness, and refuse to soft-peddle the magnitude of threat it represents, it will continue unabated in its efforts to subjugate them and their posterity to its insatiable appetite.

As November looms, traditional America is conflicted among feelings of anticipation, dread, and despair. The upcoming elections hold the prospect of major conservative gains in the House and Senate, which could drastically turn the tide on the relentless liberal attacks against the nation. And it is undeniable that such a shakeup in Washington is sorely needed.

Yet even if the political landscape is shifted significantly to the right, the damage already being wrought on this nation can continue unabated for many months before the new congress would have its first opportunity to put a stop to the madness. Considering just how drastic and unrestrained the efforts to reinvent America have been during the past year and a half, and how severely the many institutions of our once-great and promising nation have been debilitated or destroyed, it is hardly encouraging to consider how much more harm can be inflicted on us before the next congress convenes in January of 2011.

Furthermore, on several fronts in which the Republican minority should have, and could have held firm, so as to delineate between itself as the ostensible force of the political “right,” and the leftist Democrats, its resolve has splintered and often blurred any contrast between the two parties. This abhorrent behavior, which is so indicative of how the “Washington mindset” overrules both loyalty to one’s constituents and even common sense, invariably proves to be a “win/win” for the Democrats while a consistent loser for the GOP.

Nevertheless, those nefarious “moderates” in the GOP persist, having recently given decisive support to the criminally fraudulent financial “reform” measure, and promising to do likewise during the upcoming confirmation vote of radical-leftist and predictably activist Elena Kagan to the United States Supreme Court. If only the anti-American, unconstitutional, and frequently criminal actions of the Democrats could be plainly attributed to them, without the efforts of “me too” Republicans to cloud the issue, the voting public would have the opportunity to go to the polls presented with a clear choice of how it desires to chart its future.

Still, the sheer force of the conservative and pro-Constitution groundswell known as the “Tea Party” movement shows great promise for America. Defining issues have noticeably disappeared from the political radar screen in only the past few weeks. In an effort at political “sleight of hand” that instead comes across as crass and ham-fisted, the Democrat controlled Congress is refusing to officially pass a federal budget until after the November elections. Perhaps America is sufficiently naive and dull-witted to enter the voting booths believing that the lack of certified deficits and vast governmental bloat signify a reversal of those abominable levels of spending of the last few years. At least that is the basis of Democrat hopes for damage control this coming fall.

Nor do the current efforts of campaigning Democrats to distance themselves from Barack Obama represent anything more than the standard political pretentiousness and fraud that runs particularly rampant just prior to pivotal elections. Consider, for example, the complete absence of concern over the possibility of a presidential veto during the debate and passage of any bill, ever since inauguration day 2009. This situation could only have resulted from the thorough ideological alignment between the far-left Democrat led Congress and the far-left Obama Administration. Paltry last minute claims by faint-hearted congressional and Senate Democrats that they are not complicit with the White House only prove their flagrant duplicity, and ultimately confirm their previously established liberal political bent.

Against such a backdrop, Republicans have a golden opportunity to frame the entire political debate in terms that could prove devastating to Democrats. Tuesday’s resounding referendum refuting Obamacare in Missouri, which passed by a three-to-one margin, unequivocally shows just how stridently the American people want their country back. The benefits of restoring the proper role of limited government, and conversely the dire consequences of failing to do so, resonate with the American people whenever real conservatives in Washington have the courage to make the case.

Every brazen act of Democrat hostility towards the Constitution and its limits on the reach of government should be highlighted as yet another reason to change the course of the nation. The overreach of the financially irresponsible “stimulus” bill, the illegitimate governmental seizure of major corporations, and the willingness of the left to play games with the national treasury and national security, all represent incursions by a hostile ruling elite against the rightful domain of a free and enterprising people.

Similarly, every episode of Democrat corruption needs to remain on display for the American people to see and understand. The actions of corrupt Democrat politicians thoroughly eclipse any Republican wrongdoing over which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her dutiful minions were so frenzied in their condemnation back in 2006 and 2008. But in stark contrast to the personal scandals of Republicans that were so sanctimoniously overblown by the liberal mouthpieces, those politicians who use their positions of power to embezzle and steal represent an abhorrent attack on every decent citizen, and thus a degradation of the entire country. And in this department, the perpetrators have been overwhelmingly liberal and Democrat.

As America’s finances are formally pillaged, its former freedoms trampled, and its standing in the world decimated, the people of the nation are waking up to the genuine threat they face. A Republican plan to not only halt the destruction, but to take essential steps to reverse course, is both a good political strategy going into the election and, in its aftermath, vital to the restoration of the United States.

After Clinton appointed Judge Susan Bolton ruled Wednesday that — for all intents and purposes — Arizona does not have the right to protect itself or its citizens from invading drug cartels and the illegal foreign hordes that are bleeding it dry of its resources, it should have become apparent to even the dimmest that We-the-People no longer exist. We are now living under a tyranny developed, directed, implemented and enforced by the Marxists in power.

To add insult to injury, as The Obama and its minions refuse to enforce the invasion of a foreign power from assaulting OUR border and willfully and with malice refusing to protect US citizens, Hezbollah terrorists who have already invaded with blessings from The Obama will be allowed to continue to do so.

With this latest atrocity perpetrated by the US Federal government against We-the-People, isn’t it time to at least consider replacing the Federal government with something that works for us instead of against us? That is, assuming we citizens (almost serfs) still have any choice at all. Isn’t it time to give back the power to the United States? With its bought and paid for leftist judges, election fraud and openly racist units, The Obama and is now being given Carte Blanche to do anything he wants to control and destroy We-the-People and what used to be our country. Not even a provable US citizen, The Obama and his masters are the worst things to have ever invaded the United States of America; a USA that has now been destroyed. No more a Republic, Judge Bolton has also now ruled that States have NO right to their own sovereignty.

The Republic may have now come to its end, folks. Obama can now cheer and have another wild and extravagantly expensive party on the backs of We-the-People. Who would have thought we would be totally destroyed by a foreign power called Obama? Oh yeah! Our founders did when they incorporated Article II into the US Constitution, which reads: “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President…” They may not have known The Obama’s name but they knew — if given the chance — what it would do. It has now done it.

Once again, the despicable conduct of the Obama Administration compels us to do a “reality check,” this time in regard to the lawsuit filed by Eric Holder’s Justice Department against the State of Arizona. Put aside, for the moment, the abject hypocrisy of his selective devotion to the law, wherein criminal actions are ignored or dismissed if committed by such thugs as King Samir Shabazz of the New Black Panthers against common citizens attempting to vote, while decent and honorable efforts to maintain the integrity of one’s country or one’s state are targeted for legal dissolution.

Of course the ruling was going to be against Arizona. Susan Bolton, the Federal Judge “deciding” the case was a Clinton appointee. Enough said. From the start, this proceeding never had anything to do with the defense of United States law, nor any other constitutional consideration. It was predetermined on the basis of political ideology. Bill Clinton, like Barack Obama is a leftist. And his judicial appointees, without exception, have been likewise.

Yet Holder’s duplicity and corruption go much further than even this abominable event, and aside from the immediate danger posed to the people of Arizona, they represent an enormous breach in the structure of this nation’s entire legal system. An out of control justice department not only fails to provide safeguards for all decent Americans; it stands as a threat to the preservation of “domestic tranquility,” their birthright. And that should be its real goal and purpose.

For starters, the very name attributed to this action, “The United States Versus Arizona” howls with untruth. The foundations of this nation, based in the principles of a constitutionally cohesive federation of sovereign states, would suggest that if the United States Department of Justice were ever to engage in legal activity under such a heading, it might require a shred of support from “We the People” across the nation. But aside from the elitists of the liberal political and media establishment, no such support exists.

Instead, Americans overwhelmingly support the actions of Arizona, and desire to see the law implemented and carried forward to success for their own sakes as well. Arizona’s fate depends on it, as does that of all America. The very argument that Arizona is “usurping federal law,” on which the Holder case was fabricated, lends credence to the fact that, at one time, national concern over the illegal invasion was sufficient to establish and implement federal statutes to accomplish the very thing Arizona is now attempting to do.

Were federal officials determinedly and diligently confronting the influx of illegal invaders, Arizona law enforcement operations in this jurisdiction might well be perceived as an unnecessary interference. But of course nothing of the kind is happening in the Grand Canyon State. Federal enforcement has been purposefully nonexistent. And it was for that very reason that Arizona took upon itself the task of dealing with the invasion. Holder, in his flowery opposition to SB 1070, engaged in the most blatant degree of deceit imaginable. In a purely political venture, the head of the United States Department of Justice sent his team of lawyers into a courtroom armed with outright lies, but comfortable nevertheless with the fact that such would be sufficient for Bolton to “rule” in their favor.

Did the citizens of the other forty-nine states really want to declare war on Arizona for attempting to protect its borders and restore its legal and cultural integrity? Yet that fallacious supposition was precisely what this federal lawsuit represented. In reality Holder, or more specifically his boss and ideological kindred Barack Obama, no more speak for the rest of this nation on illegal immigration than on socialized healthcare, the economic destruction of the Gulf Coast (not by the oil spill, but from the unwarranted drilling moratorium), nationalization of banks and manufacturing industries, or the fanatical effort to outlaw and suppress free speech prior to the upcoming elections.

It is worthwhile to ponder the degree to which the function of our nation’s government has been debased and corrupted, leaving us at this abysmal milestone. Rather than allowing the State of Arizona to “secure the blessings of liberty” to its current generation and their posterity, the ability to do so, formerly unquestioned, has now been thwarted by the action of a single Federal Judge who simply chose not to uphold the law as already written.

In other words, the veracity of state sovereignty is under attack. Once the Obama cabal managed to get their case before the right individual, they summarily declared Arizona unable to defend its own citizens from the criminal destruction and taking of their state. And worst of all, this abomination was committed ostensibly in the name of the rest of the American people.

Arizona’s ability to maintain a worthwhile social structure within its own borders is foundational to its proper functioning as a state, and along with similar action from other states, is critical to the future of the nation. If it can be dismissed and revoked with such ease at the whim of a judge, at the bidding of a “Justice” Department that has repeatedly exhibited its contempt for true, even-handed justice, no aspect of real America remains immune to the burgeoning menace.

Selective “enforcement” of the law is a sure sign that those in power are using the nation’s entire legal apparatus to their own ends. Holder has engaged in such behavior on multiple occasions, for the expressed purpose of advancing his own perverse, leftist, and by definition, anti-American ideology. That he would do so to stop SB 1070 is an attack on the good people of Arizona. That he would presume to do so in the name of this United States is an enormously greater affront, and in fact a crime, against every decent citizen of this country.
